1. First of all it may seem obvious to most people but still many forget……..and that is you need to get more than one quote for auto insurance !! Be sure to have a pen ready and a notepad as you need to compare each policy and how they stack up against each other. Things like deductibles and policy limits etc..etc..
2. You really need to take a review of you car insurance policy every year. Just ask for a policy review and get some new quotes each year. Also, keep up with things like…..whether or not your car insurance premium has decreased when you went without a speeding ticket for over three years. Sometimes insurance companies will forget to lower the premium back down. It does and can happen to you !!
3.You need to take the children off the policy. For instance, if they are in college more than 100 miles away you can have them off the policy and save a lot of money that way.
4. Raising your deductible will no doubt lower the cost of your auto insurance. Go with the $1,000 deductible. Plan to pay that amount if you do get in anaccident someday but in meantime, you can count on saving that much money and more overtime with lower deductibles.
5. Just get rid of the Collision part of the policy if your car drops below a certain value and a amount that you can afford to chalk up as a loss. There is no need to put out that much money when your car is depreciating more and more every year.
Also be sure to ask about any special discounts like non smoker discounts and specials on auto/home policies. Refer to your Agent about this when talking to him.
